A sensational start to the pennant season against last year’s A1 pennant winner, Royal Adelaide, on their home track.

Amy Zhou, playing her first Pennant match for Glenelg, started strongly, displaying great shot making all day to finish 5/4.

Sophie James took a little while to warm up, although 3 down after 6 holes, Sophie won 7, 8, 9 and 10, with a solid par on the 9th, also finishing with a birdie on the 18th for a hard fought win.

Jill Hodge played powerful golf all day, driving long and straight for a very comprehensive 4/3 win.

Christine Beasley had an evenly fought match, playing very steady golf over the back nine, winning the crucial 17th to finish 2/1.

Women’s Cleek Stick – Round 4

Glenelg vs West Lakes at West Lakes Golf Club

Glenelg 2 lost to West Lakes 3

Report by Jeanne Scardigno (Team Manager)

A very tough day out today, playing the top ranked team on their home course was never going to be easy.

Wendy Vaughan played Janet Pratt, and Wendy was up from the beginning, winning her match 4/3.

Janet Fleer played Deirdre Day, and although Janet was behind for the first nine, she came back with a vengeance on the back nine to win her match 2 up.

Cheryl Franzi played Annette Hubbard, and Cherly had the toughest luck, after being up for most of the front nine, she played the best part of the back nine 1 down, on the eighteenth, Cheryl put her 4th shot onto the green, and her opponent was short of the green into the rough, guess what, she put her next ball in the whole to defeat Cheryl 2down.

Meredith Noble played Sue Clark, and Meredith could not catch a break all day, if the ball was anywhere near a bunker it went in, Meredith was defeated 5/4.

Ros Henderson’s match against Marilyn Wildy was close all day long, having to give shots in the 12th and 13th was telling, with Marilyn breaking away at the end to defeat Ros 3/1.
