Report by Paul Duregon (Team Manager)
Glenelg 4 1/2 vs Tea Tree Gully 1/2
On a cold, wet and windy day our Junior team played their opening round at Mt Osmond, where you could actually see the rain coming in at eye level. Mt Osmond must be congratulated for hosting a very organised day – the course was in great condition given the wet weather faced by the players. Our opponents, Tea Tree Gully, were struggling for numbers on the day, which gave us an opportunity to play our reserves against each other.
Todd Williams – what a thrilling match to watch and after 18 holes, both players could not be separated with the result all square. This match had it all Birdies, Par, Bogeys and lots of other larger scores. Todd played well early, but hit a speed bump when his opponent made three consecutive birdies. One down with one to play, Todd played the final hole to perfection, securing the half.
Braeden Kelly – Solid golf was the theme for Braeden all day overcoming his opponent 8/6.
Jake Hurst – Jake was in control from the start of his match and never allowed his opponent to get into her rhythm taking the match 8/6
Jack Hynes vs Haydn Booth – two Glenelg juniors going head to head, Haydn shot out of the blocks 4 up after 7. Jack needed to fight hard and that he did, taking the match to the 18th. Match squared
Sam Raschella vs Mitch Taht – Also both Glenelg Players, both players wanted to win this match to cement a place in the team this year, however Mitch was the victor 3/2
Next week will show us how far we can go in 2012, matches will be played at Mount Lofty against Grange.
