Congratulations to Blackwood’s Nigel Turner and Grange’s Ann Coats on taking out the 2011 Owen Whitford Trophy, played last week at Glenelg. Turner and Coats defeated local Denis Prider and Mt Osmond’s Joy Page in a close tussle at the 19th hole.
The Owen Whitford Trophy was again a great success with almost 30 pairs playing in the qualifying round last Sunday, played inconjunction with t he Club Mixed Foursomes Championship. 16 pairs qualified for matchplay, played over the week, culminating in the final on Friday.
In the Club Mixed Foursomes Championship, Mark McDonald and Josie Hodge took this years’ title after shooting 79, three shots ahead of the young pairing of Mitch Taht and Jess Burns. Tony Martin and Ele Davies took out the best net prize with net 72.
A special thanks must be passed on to Ian Symons (Epac Salary Solutions) and Mark Fleer (Tool Chrome Company) for the outstanding sponsorship support of the event for the second year in a row.
